The Walston family has been involved in racing for many years. Jeff's father raced stock cars in the early 80's. This passion for racing boiled over into Jeff when he was 5 years old. As he began racing karts, his competitive nature took over. Over the past years Jeff and his kart were a force to be reckoned with on the track. He has won numerous races and and track championships. In 1999, he won and unprecedented 30 straight features at the Anna Speedrome.
The late fall of 1999, Jeff had and offer he could not refuse. He and his father acquired a proven dirt track car. So, the first weekend they had it, it was off to the races. Jeff ran a great race and finish fourth his first time out. After that, Jeff knocked out a series of top ten finished to end the season.
The 2000 racing season was Jeff's first full year in a stock car. It had its ups and downs as many rookie season go. Jeff achieved 1 feature win along with number of top 5 finishes. The only thing that kept Jeff out of the victory circle was some bad racing luck.
In 2001, Jeff again raced the Pro-Stock or Limited Sportsman division with his car. In 17 feature races, Jeff visited victory circle 5 times. As in 2000, bad luck plagued the team and cost them quite a few more wins.
Due to the cost of running the car, Jeff decided he would be better off racing karts for the 2002 season. That year he won the track championship at TK Raceway in the Champ Karts.
For the first part of the 2003 season, Jeff again ran karts. He won the Coca-Cola Summer Shootout in Champ Karts at SEMO Raceway. As the season progressed, Jeff got the urge to be in a car again. By the first of summer he a purchased a Rayburn Chassis and in late July had it on the track. He was able to put the 56 limited Latemodel in victory lane after only his fourth start with his new car. The rest of the season when well with Jeff visiting victory lane numerous times. At the end of the 2003 season Jeff was awarded the class championship at Paducah International Raceway.
The 2004 season was another great year for Jeff. He defended his championship at the Coca-Cola Summer Shootout in Champ Karts at SEMO Raceway. He also defended his track championship at Paducah International Raceway. Walston finish second in points at Kentucky Late Motor Speedway. By the end of the 2004 season, Jeff had accumulated 14 feature wins and numerous top 5 and top 10 finishes. To see all his results, check out his car stats.
The 2005 season went well with Jeff running a limited season in the UMP Latemodels.
In 2006 Jeff began driving for a new car owner. Walston competed in the C.A.R.S. weekly racing series. After a long points season, Jeff had to settle for second in C.A.R.S points. However he completed the 06 season with an impressive 25 feature wins. Walston also won the track championship in the crate late model division.
2007 was interesting as Jeff and his car owner run some Crate Late Model races as well as UMP Super Late Model races.
2008 was a another breakout year for Walston while driving in the UMP Super Late Model division. He took second in the local track points, first in the Kentucky State Points, and was crowned UMP Rookie of the Year.
